Read that as: same seat count, same patio, different cuisine, different price ceiling. Numa is scheduled for a spring opening at Grove West and will feature a bar and patio seating area in addition to its dining room.
If you had Albarino on a mental shortlist for summer entertaining, the practical move is to hold that reservation slot and watch Numa's reservation opening. The room is the same room. The menu is the news.
Grove West Is Where The New Stuff Is Actually Landing
For years, "The Grove" meant the east side of Route 35, the one with Lululemon and Williams Sonoma. Grove West, the strip across the highway, felt like overflow. That is no longer true in 2026.
The Grove at Shrewsbury is welcoming three new tenants including a fitness studio, a Mediterranean restaurant and a jewelry retailer, with the boutique fitness studio Solidcore opening at Grove West, an extension of the shopping center located across Route 35. Solidcore offers 50-minute, high-intensity, low-impact resistance training classes with small class sizes. Jewelry store Kendra Scott is opening this spring in the main Grove shopping center.

The one-mile loop from The Grove to Grove West and back provides a walk along the landscaping, and at Grove West there is an active culinary garden which provides fresh, organically-grown produce used by the restaurants.
A workable summer routine, in order:
- Start at Grove West with a class at Solidcore.
- Cut through the culinary garden on the way out. It is one of the few working kitchen gardens attached to a shopping center in Monmouth County, and the herbs on your dinner plate later probably came from it.
- Walk the loop across to the main Grove side for a Kendra Scott stop or a browse at Alo.
- Loop back to Grove West for a patio table at Numa.
That is a two-hour block that used to require three car trips. The loop is the point.
Who Actually Owns This And Why It Matters
Shrewsbury residents tend to underestimate how much capital sits behind the two shopping centers. The Grove and Grove West are owned and managed in partnership with Federal Realty Investment Trust, a publicly traded REIT with a portfolio concentrated in the country's most affluent suburban corridors.
The centers are located along Route 35, intersected by feeder roads connecting Rumson, Fair Haven, Little Silver, Shrewsbury and Middletown, and the Grove has a regional draw due to its mix of tenants. That regional draw is why Solidcore and Kendra Scott chose here rather than a strip closer to the water. It is also why the tenant list changes faster than at almost any other retail block in the county. If your favorite store has not moved yet, it probably will.
The useful mental model this summer: stop thinking of The Grove as a place you park at, and start thinking of it as a mile of storefronts you walk between.
What To Eat If Numa Is Not Open Yet
Depending on when you read this, Numa may still be finishing its buildout. The rest of the Shrewsbury dinner map is worth knowing in the meantime, because it is thicker than the highway makes it look.
Bayroot, a family Lebanese restaurant at 555 Shrewsbury Avenue, offers authentic homemade Lebanese cuisine with warm hospitality. If you have a middle schooler who needs summer service hours, those four names are the shortlist to start with, and each has a Shrewsbury or Red Bank presence that makes drop-offs realistic.

Shrewsbury does not get the headline coverage that Rumson or Red Bank do, and that is largely to the town's benefit. The corridor along Route 35 is quietly one of the most actively curated retail environments in Monmouth County, and the tenants signing leases here are betting on the same households who live on Sycamore, Broad, and Patterson.
